Are you guilty of distracted driving?

Unfortunately for all of us, incidents of distracted driving are on the rise due to mobile device use while behind the wheel. Loss of life, bodily injury and property damage can occur when a driver does not give full attention to the road. In addition to these tangible losses the expense of distracted drivers will affect us all in terms of rising personal and commercial insurance costs.

Many states are attempting to control the rising accident rate by issuing mobile device bans. Please see the attached summary of mobile device bans provided by Philadelphia Insurance Companies.

These measures are not the only ones that can be taken to help manage this risk. Employers are frequently implementing loss control measures to curb distracted driving among their employees. Please see the attached form for some sample language to be used in your company's policy and procedure handbook. This form is provided by Philadelphia Insurance Companies.
